Privacy Policy
Last updated 16 September 2026
This explains what happens to your information when you use this website or send me an enquiry. It's written to be read, not to be skimmed past.
Who I am
This website is run by DJ Matty F Events Ltd, a company registered in England and Wales, company number 16204656. In data protection law I am the "controller" of the information described here, which means I decide what is collected and why, and I'm responsible for looking after it.
You can reach me directly:
- Email — matt@djmattyf.com
- Phone — +44 7904 811335
Bookings outside the UK may be handled by DJ Matty F Events LLC, registered in Ohio, USA. Enquiries made through this website come to me either way.
This policy covers weddings.djmattyf.com. My main website, djmattyf.com, is a separate Squarespace site.
What I collect
When you send an enquiry
The enquiry form on this site is provided by Planning Beats, the booking system I use to run my diary. When you complete it, the details go straight into that system. Depending on which fields you fill in, that typically means your name, email address, phone number, the date and location of your event, and anything you write in the message box.
You choose what to tell me. Nothing in that form is collected without you typing it.
When you just look around
If you accept cookies, Google Analytics records things like which pages you looked at, roughly how long for, the type of device you're on, and an approximate location based on your IP address. Your IP address is anonymised before it's stored.
If you accept cookies, Microsoft Clarity also records how you move around this page — where you scroll, tap and click — so I can see which parts are useful and which are confusing. Clarity masks what you type into forms, and I only see anonymous session replays and heatmaps, not who you are.
If you decline, none of that happens. No analytics or advertising cookies are set, and no measurement data about your visit is stored.
Advertising
Some visitors arrive here by clicking a Google advert, or an advert on Facebook or Instagram. If you accepted cookies, Google or Meta can connect that click to the fact an enquiry was sent, so I can see which adverts actually lead to people getting in touch. What I see is a count — "this many enquiries came from this search term" — not who you are.
Technical records
This site is hosted by Netlify, which keeps standard server logs including IP addresses, for security and to keep the site running. That's ordinary infrastructure logging, and it happens regardless of your cookie choice.
Why I collect it, and my legal basis for doing so
| What | Why | Legal basis (UK GDPR) |
|---|---|---|
| Your enquiry details | To check my availability, answer your questions, quote you, and if you book, to plan and perform at your event | Steps taken at your request before entering into a contract — and once booked, performance of that contract (Art. 6(1)(b)) |
| Records of past bookings | Accounting, tax, and dealing with any question that comes up afterwards | Legal obligation (Art. 6(1)(c)) and legitimate interests (Art. 6(1)(f)) |
| Analytics and advertising cookies | To understand which pages people read and which adverts bring genuine enquiries | Your consent (Art. 6(1)(a)), given through the banner |
| Server logs | Keeping the site up and secure | Legitimate interests (Art. 6(1)(f)) |
I don't sell your information, and I don't share it with other suppliers or venues unless you specifically ask me to. If your venue or planner needs something from me, I'll ask you first.
Cookies
A cookie is a small file a website stores in your browser. When you first arrive here, a black bar asks whether you accept them. Nothing that tracks you is stored until you press Accept. That's a legal requirement in the UK, and it's also just the right way round.
| Cookie | Set by | Purpose | Lasts |
|---|---|---|---|
djmf_consent |
This site | Remembers your yes or no so you aren't asked on every page. Set whichever way you answer. | 180 days |
_ga, _ga_* |
Google Analytics | Tells repeat visits apart from new ones. Only after you accept. | Up to 2 years |
| Google advertising cookies | Google Ads | Links an advert click to an enquiry. Only after you accept. | Up to 2 years |
_fbp |
Meta (Facebook & Instagram) | Links a Facebook or Instagram advert click to an enquiry, and helps show my adverts to the right people. Only after you accept. | 90 days |
_clck, _clsk |
Microsoft Clarity | Records how visitors scroll and click, for anonymous heatmaps and session replays. Only after you accept. | Up to 1 year |
| Planning Beats cookies | Planning Beats | Set within the enquiry form itself so it works properly and can spot spam submissions. | Varies |
Changing your mind: clear this site's cookies in your browser settings and the banner will appear again next time you visit. You can also block cookies entirely in your browser — the site and the enquiry form will still work.
Other companies involved
Running a website means using other people's services. These are all of them, and what each one sees:
- Planning Beats — my booking system. Receives and stores your enquiry, and any video call you book with me.
- Netlify — hosts this website. Sees the technical request data described above.
- Google (Analytics and Ads) — measurement and advertising, only where you've consented.
- Microsoft (Clarity) — heatmaps and anonymous session replays showing how people use this page, only where you've consented.
- Meta (Facebook and Instagram) — measures which of my adverts on those apps lead to enquiries, only where you've consented.
- Google Fonts — supplies the typeface. Your browser requests the font file, which means Google's servers see your IP address. This happens on page load, as it does on a large share of websites.
- Cloudflare — delivers the small piece of software that plays the video on the home page.
- Squarespace — hosts the photographs and video shown on this site.
- Microsoft 365 — my email. If you email me, that's where the message lives.
Some of these companies are based outside the UK, or store data on servers outside it. Where that's the case, the transfer is covered by the safeguards UK data protection law requires — usually standard contractual clauses or an adequacy decision — set out in each provider's own terms.
How long I keep things
- Enquiries that don't lead to a booking — kept for up to two years, then deleted. Couples often come back after a long engagement, and dates change.
- Bookings — kept for seven years after the event, because HMRC requires business records to be retained for six.
- Analytics data — Google deletes it after 14 months.
- Server logs — a short rolling period set by Netlify.
If you'd like your enquiry deleted sooner than that, just ask. It takes me a minute.
Your rights
Under UK data protection law you have the right to:
- Ask what information I hold about you, and get a copy
- Have anything inaccurate corrected
- Ask me to delete it
- Ask me to restrict how I use it, or object to my using it
- Receive it in a portable format, or have it sent to someone else
- Withdraw your consent to cookies at any time, without affecting anything that happened before
Email matt@djmattyf.com and I'll deal with it. There's no charge, and I'll respond within one month.
If you're not happy with how I've handled it, you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office, the UK's data protection regulator, at ico.org.uk or on 0303 123 1113. I'd appreciate the chance to put it right first.
Children
This site is aimed at adults booking entertainment for their own events. I don't knowingly collect information from anyone under 18. If you think a child has sent me their details, tell me and I'll delete them.
Changes to this policy
If I change how any of this works, I'll update this page and change the date at the top. This version was published on 16 September 2026.
